Hi, and welcome to week 44!

Sorry for skipping last week. I wasn’t waking up with songs in my head and I forgot to start blogging until Wednesday and at that point I gave up.

Last night Fiks and I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Halloween party. I dressed up as red riding hood and he was the Big Bad Wolf. We met at the station and got Fiks ready and then we left because it took a while. We both blame the bow tie. But he looked really good. We hopped into the car and made our way to the aquarium.

Once we were parked we put me in my corset, I held on to the car while he tied me in. I might have let go thinking he was done and got pulled backwards when he tugged again. He laughed and told me to go back to holding onto the car. Once I was in we put on the rest of my costume, and my cloak and mask, and then we left for the aquarium.

I wish I had taken photos of people’s costumes. There was a life and death unicorns that we followed most of the way to the aquarium. They got distracted by a photo op that everyone was waiting for, so Fiks and I passed on it, agreeing to do it on our way home.

We got to the aquarium and there was a line, which we were expecting. So we waddled up the hill to the back of the queue and started walking through the line. I took about half an hour, I felt like I was in line for a ride at Disneyland. But we got there and our passes worked. Phew. I went and had my bag searched for weapons and then we started to enter the aquarium.

We went straight to the restaurant, both needing something to eat. I got a pizza, Fiks got a burger with fries, and we shared a pretzel. We got tea and lemonade from the skull jug dispensers, and went and found a seat and started eating. We saw a lot of costumes while we were eating. There was a old school Mad Hatter with Alice, and the kid was the Mandalorian. I guess it works because they’re all Disney?

My favorite costume that I saw was a girl dressed as a jellyfish. She had this awesome hat that had the pattern on top and then had some lights and fabric tendrils hanging down from the light. It was so cool I wanted to ask to take her picture, but I was shy and she was a teenager. I felt like it was inappropriate. We went and got drinks, Fiks got the blood orange with tequila and I got a glass of Chardonnay.

After we got our drinks we made our way over to the kelp forest and where the octopuses live. One was asleep and hanging out in the corner. I’ve never seen one pure white in real life before, just on TV. So I was super excited to see it. Everyone else was going to the octopus that was awake and moving. It just felt special to see a sleeping one.

Afterwards we walked around the aquarium. We walked around the kelp forest and saw all the different fish they have in there. We went upstairs and checked out the view over the bay. It was nice and cool outside which was nice because I felt very warm. The massive line you’ll see was for cotton candy. Just for cotton candy. It was insane. I was glad we weren’t down there.

As we walked through the aquarium, the song we had been singing all night (Werewolves of London), started playing. We sang along with it as we walked back the speakers. We went and checked out the otters who were sleeping. After checking out the sleeping otters we went to go and see the jellyfish. I thought it would be nice and quiet, nope, I was wrong. I was starting to feel overwhelmed by all the people and the noise and just wanted somewhere quiet.

We hung out upstairs for a while, watching the huge tank and looking for turtles but never seeing them. but it wasn’t quiet that’s for sure. After a while we went back downstairs and sat at the puffin window, even though it was closed. My feet were killing me in those boots. We watched the puffins swim by the crack in the curtains. There were two who kept going by and checking us out through the crack, and as soon as we made eye contact they would swim away. While I was in the rest room, Fiks went and got us a coffee and hot chocolate, coffee for him, hot chocolate for me. It was very delicious. I wanted to try out some of the desserts that they offered, so I went and got us a cupcake and a cookie to share.

Fiks saw me starting to get tired, and asked if we should go. I said yes, but I wanted to swing by the gift shop on the way out. I got myself a new hoodie that I can wear to work, we both got some pins, and we got an octopus Christmas ornament. We started our walk back to the car, stopping by the sign to take out pictures. A couple saw us trying to take our own, and offered to take them for us, Fiks leapt at the offer and did them same for them.

We took our time walking back, mostly because my feet were sore. When we got to the car we took off my outfit and I saw down at the car and took off my boots, and my feet were so happy. Fiks took off his jacket and mask, and then we made our way home. It took almost an hour, which is normal. We’ll swing by the station and pick up the truck tomorrow. We got home and walked up the stairs, and crawled into bed. I read my book while Fiks was in the shower and started sleeping, once Fiks came to bed I stopped reading and started my audio book and went to sleep.

We both slept pretty well last night. Fiks woke up before I did for once on a Sunday. Not that he hasn’t done it before, its just been a while. I got up and called my parents and checked on them, and told them about the aquarium before saying goodbye. I didn’t want a protein shake for breakfast, but I ended up having one. Then I flopped on the sofa and watched some M*A*S*H while Fiks jumped onto his computer and delt with updates. When it was time we got dressed and went down the mountain to go get my eyebrows done.

I like my waxer and want to stay with her as long as possible. She’s really sweet and is going to school too, so we commiserate about school problems. Afterwards I texted Fiks I was done and we went grocery shopping. We got everything on the list except for flowers. They didn’t have any I wanted. I mean, they had white roses, but they were already blooming. Once we were done shopping we got some Panda Express for lunch and then we went and got the truck from the station and came home.

We watched some YouTube for a while, and then I started on my math homework. I slugged through it, kind of getting the idea. I guess that’s my fault for waiting for a few days before going back to it after class. I called and asked if Mom and Poppa were coming up here, and they said no. I said I’d come down to them if I got really stuck and couldn’t figure it out. I said goodbye and then went back to the beginning, redid the prep work and it seemed to jog some stuff in my memory, so that was good. I didn’t get a perfect score, but I passed, which is what I wanted. Then I started working on the paper that I forgot. I chose to do it on Disneyland raises their tickets prices, yet again. And then I was just typing fluff to get to the word minimum.

I slept okay last night. I woke up at 3-330 and found Fiks on the sofa with his phone. I managed to talk him to come to bed and he hit the mattress and was gone within minutes. I took a little longer to get back to sleep. I woke up with my alarms and got out of bed and grabbed my shake for breakfast and watched some M*A*S*H before class started.

Neither of the other two wanted to be leaders, one of them has yet to be leader, I stepped up and became leader for the class. I don’t know why but I got really frustrated with them today. I’m normally better about it. Fiks came out when class was done, so that was nice. I turned M*A*S*H back on and dozed to that for a while. Fiks said Poppa was at the door so I got up and answered it and yup, it was Poppa. He had Mom in the car so I went and chatted with her while Poppa did a few things at my Sisters house. Its weird not having them so close after a year and a half. Poppa was done with what he was doing so we said goodbye and then they left.

I came back in the house and sat down and did some more math while Fiks played on his computer for a while. Then he wanted to go out I got jeans on and changed my shirt and off we went to go get him some new shoes. That didn’t take long. Then we went and got his hair cut and I wondered around while that was happening. We got him lunch when he was done and we hit up the brewery on the way home for him. I worked more on math class while watching the original House on Haunted Hill, the one with Vincent Price. Love him.

When I need a break from homework I downloaded Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and got that going on my little computer. I played that for a while before stopping and doing more homework in an effort to be ready for class tomorrow. It was my favorite topic, fractions!

Needless to say I didn’t get the best score on that, but I got it done. Fiks started gaming with his other group while I was doing that. I tried watching Murder on the Orient Express, but I just couldn’t get into it. So I played more RCT until it was time for bed. I kissed Fiks goodnight, brushed my teeth and put on some lotion and crawled into bed.

I slept okay last night, but I woke up not feeling 100%. My head is stuffy and I have a little bit of a cough. I got out of bed and grabbed my shake and sat down and watched some M*A*S*H before class started. We got going and man, did I feel dumb. I couldn’t figure out how to do any of the problems if it wasn’t already written out for me. I made a couple comments to my class mates about being lost, but they didn’t respond. I went to the teacher once we were done and we worked through some of the problems I was having trouble with. I like my instructor, she’s really nice and didn’t make me feel bad for not understanding what was going on.

I chatted with my Cousin who was getting ready to take her kids out trick or treating, and then we were going to watch a Halloween movie together. I turned M*A*S*H back on and watched that for a while, waiting to hear from her. We eventually connected and ended up watching the Haunted Mansion (the new one), its a cute a fun story. Afterwards I did some math homework trying to remember what the instructor told me to do. Then I put on Murder on the Orient Express.

When it was time I went and got my wolf head basket and filled it with candy and waited for trick or treaters. We ended up having just one, but I told her to take a couple pieces holding my hopes out for more. This trick or treaters was a vampire. Last year we had 10 or 12, so I don’t know what happened this year. We have more kids in the neighborhood this year, so that fact that we had less kinda confused me. Fiks said that they probably went to one of the decorated neighborhoods instead.

Fiks came home and we put on A Haunting In Venice (I found it on Hulu). I’m so glad we saw it in cinemas, not that it wasn’t good on the TV, but we didn’t get the jump scares this time. After the movie we watched some YouTube and I went to bed.

I woke up feeling like crap around 3 am. I was cold and achy, I had a really bad fever, it hurt to breath and it really hurt when I started to cough. I moved to the sofa since my coughing can drive Fiks nuts when its really bad at night. I lied down and watched a movie on the sofa, trying to get some more sleep. It didn’t happen. At 5 I went and got my phone and texted my boss that I was really sick and not coming into work today. Then I called the nurse line and talked with a nurse about my symptoms, and she got me an appointment with my doctor later in the morning. Yay.

I lied back down after putting a movie on and dozed for a little bit until Fiks came out to go to training in San Francisco. He checked on me before he left, and then I fell back to sleep after setting an alarm for 10 minutes before my appointment. I slept through the rest of the movie and put on another one, slept through that, and woke up with my alarm. I logged on for my video visit and met with the nurse before meeting with the doctor. I told her what was going on and she gave me inhalers, mucinex, a nasal spray, and a saline rinse. Fiks said that he would pick up my meds when he came home.

I just dozed while watching TV, he surprised me when he came home with a box of my favorite chocolates from See’s Candy. He then went and got my meds. He came home with them and he got himself a flu shot while he was there. I took the meds when he got home and we sat down and watched some YouTube together before he went and hopped on his computer to play with his friends in Boulders Gate 3. Since I wasn’t feeling good I wasn’t really hungry, I’d been pounding Gatorades all day so at least I knew I had something in me. I went to bed early because I wanted to lie down.

I’m just going to leave it here for this week. I was sick. Nothing really exciting or interesting happened outside my fever breaking. We did do gaming on Saturday night, so that was fun.
