Here We Go Again…(Week 2)

Hi and welcome to week 2!

I didn’t sleep the greatest last night. I moved to the sofa around three, after trying for hours to get to sleep. I turned on the TV and put on Downton Abby, I think, to sleep to. I passed out for a few hours before rolling over and turning on Muppet Treasure Island. I woke up in time to finish the movie and then I went and checked on Fiks, who was in the process of waking up. I ran to my Sisters to take care of her cats, who hissed at me as I walked in, and then they decided to meow at me. I fed them and then came home and had some breakfast after calling my Parents to check on them.

My Women’s Studies class opened up this morning, I think its not going to be as easy as I was hoping. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess. The Professor seems super smart from the video that she posted that I watched, she also seems like a hard grader from what I’ve read about the class. I might have to drop to a half day of work on Friday’s so I can get everything done in time with her class. She opens it on Monday and closes it on Friday, where as every other online or hybrid class I’ve taken opens up Monday and closes Sunday. I read some of my textbook before falling asleep on the sofa to M*A*S*H for a while. Then I woke up and read some more again.

We had a mostly lazy day. Fiks joined his friends on Baulders Gate III for a while, we started the next load of laundry, I wrapped my Niece’s birthday presents from us. My Sister came home at some point and asked what the plan for dinner was. I told her and they she asked me if I would help her move some sewing stuff from her car into her house. I said sure and just rested and did homework. Gotta get back in that swing, you know? I got dressed and helped my Sister move her sewing machines, and Fiks helped too. Then we headed over to my parents house.

Poppa was outside working on the BBQ when we pulled up. We went inside and my Brother and his family were there, and Mom was happily sitting on the sofa. My Niece was playing with the toy that they got her. She then opened up what we got for her, and I think they were a hit. Fiks and I helped my Brother and Poppa with making dinner; ramen and skirt steak. So good. And since it was a birthday weekend, we had some birthday cake for dessert. After my Brother and his family left, Fiks and I took off to hit up the grocery store before coming home. We got home and took up the groceries, and moved out the garbage and recycling.

My microbiology teacher opened up the course this evening, so I’ve been reading that for a while with How I Met Your Mother on in the background, and Fiks is playing Baulders Gate III with his friends again.

I didn’t sleep the best last night, having a really hard time getting there and then staying there. I remember saying goodbye to Fiks this morning, then I rolled back over and slept until my alarms went off, then I went and got my shake and watched some M*A*S*H. I got up and got dressed for work, headed down to the truck (buurrrr, it was 35 degrees!) and took off down the mountain.

I got there okay, even early, so I sent out a few text messages and then I changed into my work shoes and headed in. It was just L and A when I showed up, M came in next, followed by S and C. S and I were on the same doctor today, so we bounced back and forth between rooming and doing whatever needed to be done, like tech appointments or assisting the doctor with her appointments. I wasn’t having a good coordination day. I ran into C at least twice, tripping over her and landing on my knee, and bloody hell that hurt. I ran into S at least once, so yeah, just not a good day. Thankfully it was only a half day.

I left at 1 because I had a doctors appointment this afternoon. I made my way home, swinging by the market to pick up a sammich and then I came home and put on Mama Mia! because I had one of its songs in my head. Don’t ask me which one now, I don’t remember. But I had my lunch to that and then it finished just in time for my appointment.

My appointment went fine, it felt very rushed to be honest. We talked about my meds and he told me I can take one of my anxiety meds more often than I am taking it. I’m going to give that a try to see if it helps with my focus at work, because I’ve been very distractable at work for the past few weeks for some reason. Apparently a mix of anxiety, depression and stress.

I watched another movie, waiting to hear from Fiks, who texted me he was on his way home, so I started making dinner. Rice, ground beef, and pickled radish. It was good. Fiks got home while I was cooking, came and said hello, and went and hopped in the shower. I finished dinner and turned on Iron Man while I ate, and then did some reading for my Women’s Studies class. I also did some Microbiology reading and downloading and printing.

After dinner I tried calling my parents again, not getting any answer. I asked my Sister and Brother if they had heard from them and they said no. I stole Fiks’ car and drove over to make sure everything was alright. I got there and everything was fine, the phone just wasn’t working, so I rebooted it and it worked. I got some of Poppas cherry pie for a reward and then I made my way home. Fiks was still gaming when I got home so I turned on M*A*S*H and did some studying before taking a shower and heading to bed.

I slept pretty well for me last night. I growled when my alarms started going off at 645 to wake my ass up for school. I eventually got up, grabbed a shake, watched some M*A*S*H before getting up and getting dressed. I made sure I had everything I’d need for class (so I thought) and then I grabbed my jacket in case it rained and headed over the hill. It wasn’t too bad of a drive, I got there in 40 minutes. I found parking and then I went to the student resource center in an effort to find the DRC so I could get my accommodations for class like my note taking tool. Apparently I have to meet with a councilor again to say that I need them.

Afterwards I went on to look for my classroom. I went the wrong way around the building, it was the door I first saw open if I had gone the correct way. But I found the room and went in and the teacher was playing music and had a comic open on the projector, so that was kind of a cool way to start off.

The instructor seems really cool and fun, easy to approach which is going to be good for me. She went over the first class things (including making a song list, I put Halestorm Here’s To Us) and then we did a test with agar where we ran our fingers over it, slimed up behind the finger nails, and then scratched my head over it and then closed it and put it in the incubator to see what will grow. We did a throat swab that all four of us at the table did and then applied in our quadrant on the blood agar plate. Then we got some swabs and wiped down our phones and rubbed that onto some agar and then class was over.

My parents called in class, so I called them back. They were fine, just used to me calling and checking on them at a specific time at work, and they thought they missed my call. I told them I was in class, so it wasn’t me. But Mom’s appointment went well, the rebandaged her boo boos, so that’s good. I then ate my sandwich as I sat at a desk in the next class, waiting for it to start. Lecture was good, she just goes really fast, so that note taking scribe thingy will be really handy for when I come home and go over my notes and go wtf? a few hours later.

I texted a friend who I talk to all the time but don’t see because they live on the wrong side of the hill, but since I was on their side, I wanted to hang out. Didn’t work out today, which is totally fine. So I made my way home. I got to one point and it said 57 minutes to get home, which means there was an accident on the main freeway over the mountain. I ended up taking the back way up the mountain, following a line of cars. On one of the nearly 180 degree turns up a steep hill, my back tires started spinning and I fish tailed. Got it back under control tho. I made it through the scary part of a road (its basically only wide enough for 1 car, but they make it a two way road) and then I jumped on the freeway at the summit and made my way home.

I got a text from my boss asking me to work Friday, so I said sure. Need the money and hours anyway. Then I turned on M*A*S*H and ended up taking a nap which I wasn’t planning on. I went over to my Sister’s and grabbed the meal box she picked up for me, and then I jumped on a education weight loss zoom with Kaiser. I’d like to do it, it just costs a lot of money, so I probably won’t be able to do it. Fiks came home 3/4 of the way through the class and then he went and took a shower. I started making dinner once I was done, it was Zuppa Toscana, one of Fiks’ favorites.

I slept okay last night, I remember saying goodbye to Fiks in the morning, so that’s always good. I got up and had my shake while watching M*A*S*H before getting dressed and heading to work. I got down the mountain okay, and I changed into my work shoes and walked inside. I got yelled at for showing up 30 minutes late, I said the manager told me 9 when I asked her yesterday, thankfully she heard the yelling and came and confirmed that she told me 9. A was still mad at me for most of the day tho, so that sucked.

The day itself was fine, the morning flew by. It was fine until about 4 o’clock. L roomed her doctors appointment, came out and said it was basically an abuse case because the dog was one solid mat. We thought she was kidding, and then the doctor came out with the dog. It was literally One. Solid. Mat. It was so gross and the dog was so unhappy and uncomfortable, we sedated him so we could clip the fur off. It took 3 of us clipping the dog an hour and a half of clipping down to the fur to get all the hair off the dog. I felt horrible because I was clipping away and I cut him open by accident. It was fur then it was suddenly skin. He was so matted, that when he pooped, it stayed in his fur. So that was gross. Guess who was clipping the back end?

Yeah, I put gloves on and kept clipping. It wasn’t until we were smoothing out the clip jobs and cleaning up the back end that he was also covered in maggots. That was very unpleasant. I asked the doctor if she could turn the person in, and she said the people who made the appointment weren’t even the owner, just were bringing the dog in for the owner. That made me mad. She said she would make sure that the people knew that the dog couldn’t go back to the owner. His wound I gave him also opened back up and started bleeding and screaming. The doctor and L and S wrapped up the site, and the dog was so angry. He hasn’t been handled or held much from the way he was acting. The other girls were mad at me for cutting the dog, which I already felt shitty about, and the doctor didn’t help me any.

I came home and took off my scrubs and threw them in the wash, and then I took a shower. After I was done I called Mom and Poppa and they were fine, I wished Poppa a happy birthday again. They were doing good, just tired. Fiks came home with dinner, so I said I’d talk to them later and hung up, then I gave Fiks a very big long hug, telling him about what happened. I stopped when he cringed at the feces stuck in the fur, not even mentioning the maggots, because we still had to eat dinner. I didn’t tell him once dinner was over either. He jumped onto the computer and played Baulders Gate III with his friends.

I didn’t keep up with it very well this week. Its now Sunday and I can’t really remember what happened the past few days.

I’ll try to be better next week

~Just keep swimming~
