The Happiest Place On Earth… In Florida… (Week 20)

Hi, and welcome to week 20!

We woke up around 5 this morning and got the last of the packing done. I got dressed and had a yogurt for breakfast and then I tried to feed Toothless but he wasn’t interested. I hope he’s okay. He hasn’t been super hungry the past few days. Fika finished getting ready then we sat down on the sofa and watched The Simpsons until my Brother showed up to take us to the airport. He and I got the suitcases loaded while Fiks put on his socks and shoes. We locked up the house and hopped into the car and off we went.

We made it to San Francisco International airport in good time, around an hour in the car. My brother and Fiks were talking most of the way up, I chirped in every now and again, mostly listening to the radio and singing quietly in the back.

We got to the terminal and then we went through TSA Precheck. It’s a whole lot easier and faster than usual security lines, I’m so glad I signed up for that. Once we were through we went and looked for something to eat. We stopped at the Lark Creek Grill and Fiks got some breakfast and coffee. I was naughty and got a mimosa/bucks fizz. What I really wanted was a hot chocolate but they didn’t have any, so we might waddle back to the coffee shop we passed so I can get one and something to nibble on before our flight.

After Fiks was done with his breakfast we went and got me a hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll (yeah, I don’t think my diet is going to survive this week at the rate I’m going). Fiks and I went and looked for our gate and found it, standing around for maybe 10 minutes before boarding the plane. We found our seats fairly easily and Fiks grabbed his switch out of his luggage and we sat down. We just hung out and talked while waiting for the flight to start. We left the gate on time and got in the air pretty quickly.

I’ve been watching Bones and talking with my Sister about the fish. I guess Toothless didn’t eat for her, but I told her he barely eats for Fiks. He’ll eat at dinner hopefully. Fiks watched Dune (part 1) while I was doing that. I’ve been randomly taking pictures from the sky. And my lunch.

Welcome to Florida

We just landed and got our luggage. I feel super nauseous and painful, so after we grabbed our suitcase and Fiks took his turn to go to the restroom I dug out some tummy pain pills. Too soon for an anti nausea pill. We went down the escalator and checked in for our ride and we are currently waiting for our bus to show up. I called and talked with Mom and Poppa, letting them know we were alive and safe. It is currently pissing down rain and I’m not sure if what I hear is thunder or vehicles passing above us.

Our bus eventually showed up and we loaded onto the bus after stowing our luggage and we sat down in the front row since we were the first on. On the TV was A Goofy Movie. So we watched that at other people loaded up. The driver came on next and off we went. He was very kind and chatty. Apparently there are going to be 2 rocket launches on Friday. Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see one.

We got to our hotel after a half hour drive. Our hotel was the first stop, so that was nice. We had to take another bus to the back of the property where our room was located. We came in and unpacked and flopped on the bed and talked with some friends for a while before heading to dinner.

Get someone who looks at you the same way Fiks looks at churros.

After dinner we went for a waddle around the hotel grounds. We walked into a shop and I started buying pins already. Then we kept waddling around until about 1030 then we made our way back to the room and I hopped into the shower while Fiks tried to get some drinks. I came out and he was back, I went looking for the drinks and he told me it was $5 for a bottle of water from the vending machine so he passed. And the machine also wasn’t working.

Fiks is about to hop into the shower. I’m going to turn on my audio book and try to sleep.

I had a really hard time sleeping last night. I tossed and turned a lot and woke up a few times. When I finally got to sleep my alarms started going off. Fiks had to wake me up to turn it off (that’s a change). I got up and flat ironed  my hair and put product in it to stop it from poofing. (Heads up, it didn’t work)

We got dressed and walked to the bus stop. We missed the first bus so we waited for the next one. It was a nice rest before the madness of Disney world. It was like a 10-15 minutes drive from our hotel. We got  to the park and started heading in with the massive crowd.

We got through security and then entered the park. First thing we see is the tree of life, so we start waddling that way after beeping our watches through for early access.

We went shopping, looking for Wall-E and Eve pins, but ended up getting and animal kingdom pin and magnet. We went into a few stores before getting our photos taken by a Disney photographer in front of the tree. Oh, there were two Macaws who flew in while we were waiting in line. Not really a bird person but they were beautiful.

After doing some more window shopping we went to the Tusker House for breakfast where we met Goofy, Donald, and Mickey. We waited for Daisy Duck but she never came our way, she just kinda disappeared on us.

We are currently standing in line for the safari ride. Fiks is listening to The Ralph Report and I’m working on this. The line is massive, but at least we’re still moving in the line. And we keep finding fans which are a God’s send.

The safari ride was a lot of fun. Got to see a lot of cool animals. We even had a giraffe blocking the street a few times. After the safari we went to the Expedition Everest ride. We had lightning laned it, so we didn’t have nearly as long of a wait. We got loaded up and then it’s a roller coaster from the world go. I won’t give anything away minus I found it scary and I was squeezing Fiks hand so hard the entire time.

We got off the rollercoaster and then it started sprinkling, but we were both nibbly and thirsty. Fiks went and got a beer and I called my parents to see how they were doing. Then it started pissing rain. There was even lightning and thunder, not my most favorite thing in the world. Thankfully I had packed some ponchos in my bag, so I whipped those out and we put them on. We then walked in the rain to an indoor ride to get us out of the storm.

It was Florida’s version of the Indiana Jones ride in California, but with dinosaurs. I was dying of laughter the whole ride because they all have little arms. I think the person I was next to thought I was crazy. But I had a good time, so that’s what’s important, right? We got off the ride and the rain had stopped, so that was nice.

We made our way back to the hotel and changed out of our wet clothes. We’re taking a little bit of a break right now while watching The Princess Bride. Oh! We walked in and there was a bouquet of flowers, a Mickey, and a happy anniversary balloon waiting for us on the counter. I was so surprised and happy. He said they were meant to be in the room yesterday .

We left the room and went to Epcot next. We went on the ride that’s inside the Epcot ball, Spaceship Earth. We waddled around the park, getting photos taken and just having a good time. We did Sorin’ Around the World. We lightning laned Ratatouille but that ended up being broken down. We had dinner at Tepan Edo, which while pricey was amazing. The noodles were a nice change, but Fiks and I missed our fried rice. After dinner we tried to get on a few rides but they were shut by the time we got to them. Guess we shut down the park. We were able to watch the fireworks as we walked around the park, so that was nice. I love fireworks.

We figured out which bus we needed then we came back to the hotel and took showers and passed the f out.

I slept like the dead. Didn’t want to wake up to my alarms, but I eventually did and I woke Fiks up too. Once I was up I tried straightening my hair (I don’t know why I keep trying, it just poofs). After we were dressed and had our rain coats and ponchos (because there is a tornado warning in effect today). We made our way to breakfast.

I ordered some French toast and Fiks ordered some chicken and waffles. When they showed up Fiks started laughing and I was super confused. All he had was the waffles. Then he told me that the chicken was in the Mickey waffles.

After breakfast we made our way to the bus stop and we weren’t waiting for long when the bus for Hollywood Studios showed up. It was a quick ride compared to yesterday, but it could have also been because I was tired at the end of the day.

We made our way into Hollywood Studios and we started wandering around and looking for some pins. We went on Star Tours, which was fun but it was messing my vertigo up pretty well. We went for a wonder to go to Smuggler’s Run, but we didn’t have enough time for it. We got some photos taken instead. We stopped so I could take my anti nausea meds, and then made our way to the Beauty and the Beast play, but the gates were closed, so we wandered around for a few minutes before coming back and sitting down for the show.

I enjoyed the show, it was cute. Afterwards we went on Hollywood Tower of Terror, which I had never been on before. I’ve been on the one in California Disney (Guardians of the Galaxy) but this was different. I still screamed and squeezed Fiks hand as hard as I could for comfort. Afterwards we went and got some pizza and salad to eat for lunch.

After lunch we were waddling through the shops and then we discovered a Pandora shop and they happened to have the Wall-E and Eve charm that I wanted. Fiks got me that and a nightmare before Christmas one of Jack and Sally. Afterwards we headed to the Indiana Jones stunt spectacular. That was fun and cool temperature wise.

Afterwards we made our way back to the hotel and flopped on the freshly made bed for a little while before I got into my Belle dress and then we left. We went to Epcot because Fiks wanted to ride the Monorail to The Magic Kingdom. We got some pictures taken and then we went to Space Mountain, which is different from Disneyland, and they didn’t have any music playing, which is fun during the ride for me at least.

After Space Mountain Fiks wanted to go on the people mover, and I can’t remember being on it before, so we lined up for the ride. It’s a ride that just takes you around Tomorrowland. But it was still cool and I enjoyed it. Next we headed to the teacups. And the tip my Uncle gave us that the purple teacups are the fastest is correct. So if you enjoy spinning quickly get a purple teacup.

We waddled around for a little bit before going to do a meet and greet with Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She was so pretty and I loved her dress. I got asked if I wanted a picture with her and I said yes I would. I took off my lanyard and left Fiks with my phone and my bag and got in que. I had a nice quick conversation with her and got a bookmark and a photo with her, which made me very happy.

We are currently waiting for our turn on the new Tron ride. I’ll have to have Fiks send me the pictures he took of people riding the ride.

Oh. My. God. That was so intense and fun. We waited to be in the front row and wow, what a ride! It’s a mix of The Incredicoaster and Space Mountain, and that’s all you’re getting out of me. But if you go to Disney World you have to go on it.

After Tron we went and got a soda and quickly made our way across the park to The Haunted Mansion. That ride was fun, but I think I like Disneyland’s version better. After The Haunted Mansion we went to dinner at The Beasts Castle (also known as Be Our Guest) and wow. That was amazing dinner. I started having  a flare up towards the end of dinner/desert.

After dinner we went and jumped onto the Seven Dwarf’s rollercoaster and that was fun, neither of us being on it before. It was fun and quick and my flare up got worse so we headed back to the hotel. I took a shower and passed out.

I slept through my first alarm and woke up halfway through my second alarm. I rolled over and grabbed my phone so we could lightning lane the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, but it wouldn’t work for me. I had to wake Fiks up and he was able to do it. We had a slow start to the morning, both a little groggy and tired. We got dressed and headed to the bus stop for The Animal Kingdom and we weren’t waiting londg before the bus showed up.

After the bus dropped us off we went to The Rainforest Cafe for breakfast. I’ve never been and it was really cool seeing all the animatronic animals and the thunderstorms. Fiks got chicken and waffles and I got waffles with Strawberries.

After breakfast we went into The Animal Kingdom and bought me some give away pins. Fiks saw that it was hard for me to give up my pins currently (especially my Baloo one). We got robot characters and Across the spider verse pins. We kept the Stitch, Queen, and Miles pins, the other pins are free for trading.

Fiks wanted to go on the Mount Everest ride again, so we did that. I did better this time, keeping my eyes open the whole ride. Yay! I still squeezed Fiks hand tho. After that rollercoaster we headed out to the buses to head back to Epcot for a couple of rides. We’re currently on Mission SPACE waiting to get on. We’re going with the intense side, whatever that means.

Mission SPACE was awesome. After that one we went to the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. Wow. Amazing, do recommend. After Guardians we went to the Test Track and designed our car and got to take it for a spin. It’s like Radiator Springs, the cars and then they floor it and you go super fast. Fiks was smart and left his sunglasses on, I was dumb and didn’t.

We’re currently sitting down in a cafe area with too many people and not enough tables or chairs. We’re just waiting for our order to be ready before one of us gets up to go get it. We eventually got lunch, I think my blood orange margarita was the best thing I got, the pizza was rather meh. After we were done eating we grabbed our drinks and headed over to Paris for the Ratatouille ride (our wait is currently 105 minutes). Fiks has been keeping himself entertained with The Ralph Report and I’ve just been people watching.

The ride was cute, but not worth the wait. It felt short and when Fiks and I saw the ride cars, we were expecting something like Rise Of The Resistance because it was the same kind of cars. But it was gentle, so I think it was aimed more towards kids and families. Afterwards we took the high rise gondolas to a hotel, then to Hollywood Studios and then we took the bus back to the hotel.

Fiks turned on Die Hard 2 and I fell asleep for a while, then I woke up and it was time to get going for our dinner reservation at Disney Springs. We were eating at the House of Blues tonight, somewhere again I have never been. It was really cool. I ordered a salad with Cajun shrimp and it was really good. The shrimp was a little too spicy for me, so I ate what I could and gave the last one to Fiks. But the croutons were made out of cornbread, so that was really neat and cool.

Afterwards we waddled around Disney springs, hitting up and looking in a few shops along the way. We found somewhere which made whipped honey, even though it felt like I was betraying our honey guy. Then we went to World of Disney and did a lot of spending there. I got three new charms and a round to put them on. I got a white rose, and 2 spacers. We got our nephews in England T-shirts and one for my Niece. Fiks and I also got shirts (I needed one because I was out of shirts to wear back home). Afterwards we found a tea and spice shop, buying some tea from them. We found the Art of Disney store and got like 4 or 5 prints, 2 of them Wall-E and Eve which makes up for not finding any pins.

We made our way back to the bus stop, just missing our bus. Well, we waited for at least 45 minutes before another bus showed up to take us back to the hotel. We waddled around trying to find some bottles of water, only finding a bar open, but thankfully they were selling water bottles. Fiks also got a cocktail to go and we moved back to our hotel room. I called my parents and took a shower and crawled into bed and passed out.

I didn’t sleep well last night. Fiks and I both woke up at 9 to knocking on our door. But check out isn’t until 11 so we just stayed in bed for a while longer. When we were both up and moving we started packing up all  the luggage and swag, and currently we are on the bed watching Disney cartoons and working on this.

After we were done with breakfast we gathered our things, checked out of the room and headed to the front. We checked our bags so we could waddle around Disney Springs for a little while again. We made our way into the Coca Cola shop and did some window shopping, and we got to meet the Polar Bear! He was so cool, his eyes and ears moved. And Fiks was almost as tall as the Polar Bear.

We went up to the top floor and tasted 16 different sodas from around the world. We had some good ones, some weird ones and some bad ones. One tasted like an antibiotic to me, another like cherry cough syrup. But the strangest one tasted like BBQ sauce to both of us.

We waddled down to the Cirque De Solei store and it wasn’t open yet. We made our way down to the Irish pub and a few other places we didn’t hit yesterday before heading back to Cirque. We grabbed a magnet and a pin and then got out of the sun for a little while and had a couple of drinks before running and grabbing the bus back to the hotel.

We had a miscommunication on where we were being picked up, so that was annoying and frustrating. We eventually met up with our ride and picked up other people from different hotels and then we made our way to the airport. We got there in good time, which is what I was worried about since we were already running late. We got our luggage checked in and then we went and got something to eat before going through security and finding our gate.

I was super anxious and tired and frustrated by the time that we got on the plane. I called and talked to my parents for a little bit and that helped me some. I sent a text to my brother telling him we had just sat down. The flight home was very bumpy. I took my anti nausea pill right before it got super bad. I watched a movie and then I put it on Master Chef Junior for the rest of the flight home.

We landed a little late and then we waited for our luggage. We weren’t waiting too long for it to show up. We saw my Brothers car and loaded in and headed home.
