So I’ve decided to start working out this month, and to start working on my diet. I found a workout program on Imgur like 6 months ago that I am going to give a try. I figure if I say that I am going to do it on here, I’ll feel more accountable and less prone to excuses (hopefully). I also know I’ll have a few people who will help keep me on track, you know who you are.
Its something different everyday, and so that’s pretty cool. And I can repeat it for 3 months. Its a nice set up that way.
So here we go. Day one.
Weight: 191 (eeek!)
I rode my bike instead of running. Part of it was to save myself and my knee for work today, and I really just wanted to ride my bike. So I did 3.72 miles in 23:12. My average MPH 9.61 and I burned 231 calories. I did the loop that takes me along the ocean, so I got to smell the ocean and hear the crash of the waves over my music. And oh my lord, so many surfers out in the ocean and coming in. I tried surfing once or twice, and its just not my thing.
I tried doing this workout a few months ago, before I started the blog, and then I got really sick and had little to no energy. But I like this because I can do it at home, or at the gym, or anywhere really. I have the images downloaded onto my phone so that I can do it at work if I have to.
I forgot how much my bad knee hates squats. It explodes on every rep. Ugh.
I woke up feeling really anxious today. I’m not sure if its because I’m working a new place today or if I am already worried about working the 4th of July. Its going to be a nightmare for me. And there is no way to get out of it minus being in the hospital. Which I don’t want to be in. I’ll come up with a way of dealing with it, somehow.
Yesterday at work went fine. Well, mostly fine. There was an employee who had a seizure, but he was talking to us the whole time. His face turned bright red and the left side of his body got super tight and starting convulsing, but not his right. Weird. I asked him if there was anything that we could do, like if he needed us to call someone. He kept saying no, and then when he was done with the seizure he just walked away like nothing had happened. Kind of freaked me out. But other than that it was fine. Just a long, boring day.
Oh, I did finish my book, Forest of Ruin. I enjoyed the new characters that were introduced and how the original characters continued to grow. I was kind of surprised at the ending, but it worked out for the book. The climax was something that I didn’t really see coming. And then I started a new book, The Girl In The Ice. Its written in British English, and uses a lot of terms and slang from England, which I find really cool and interesting. I haven’t read a truly British book since I got the last Harry Potter book (My whole collection is from England). So some words are spelled differently. Tyre instead of tire. British Candy is referenced, like licorice boot laces. I personally like the fizzy cola ones and the strawberry ones.
So I started my new post today. Its at a very high end neighborhood and golf course. Like I have to log everyone who comes in high end. Unless they have a resident sticker. And then they just blaze past me like they don’t have a care in the world and don’t see the stop sign. Trust me, it is. You are still meant to obey the law, no matter how much money you have.
But it is pretty cool. I get to see a lot of nice cars. Like a saw a Ferrari. Hmmm…. car porn…
But to be honest that was the nicest car that I saw all day. I mean I saw a lot of Lexus’, Audi’s, BMWs, Mercedes and Land Rovers. Nice cars, but nothing as exotic as the Ferrari. The neighborhood is attached to a golf course, so I get to see golf carts zooming around in the background from my little booth. It might just be me, but who would want to live on a golf course anyway? All those strangers being able to look in and around your house. Its all a perfectly good waste of pasture or arena space to me.
As I sit here in my booth I have a podcast going. Its from when J.J Abrams was on The Nerdist with Chris Hardwick. He’s there mostly to promote his movie 10 Cloverfield Lane. They do talk a little bit about Star Wars though, which is awesome.I mostly downloaded the episode because I wanted to hear J.J Abrams speak. If you like either movie (Star Wars or 10 Cloverfield Lane), I’d recommend giving it a listen.
I picked up Wednesday for an extra day of riding. Its nice because it’ll make up for missing Tuesday this week. So between both jobs I’ll be working 6 days in a row. Phew. I have a long week ahead of me.
I got a phone call from my manager today. He apologized for putting me at my new post without training, and said that they would set up a day for next week for me to get better training. Woohoo. And then he gave me more details about working the 4th of July. I’m not going to be as close to home as i thought, which sucks. And my boyfriend might be heading out of town for the day, which I’m not sure how I feel about. But I don’t want to stop him from doing something he wants to do because of my weaknesses.
I will be working with a local PD doing road closures. I’ve done a similar detail before for a triathlon, and that started out fine and then turned into a pain in the butt. Its amazing how people will lie to get what they want or to get their way. I can only imagine how bad it will be when people have been drinking all day. It won’t be good or fun, that’s for sure. I’ll have to dig deep and be strong. I’ll probably end up taking my anxiety meds just so that I can do the best I can and make it through my shift. I’m really afraid that I’ll have a panic attack on duty.
I’m home now. Time for dinner and to watch Star Wars.
Just keep swimming.
