Sick Day

On my way to work the most beautiful shades of purple and pink were painted across the sky as the sun was setting. If I hadn’t been driving I would have stopped and taken a photo.

Congratulations to the class of 2016.

So last night at work was a little different. It was the high schools graduation night. The class of 2016 piled into 3 buses to go to San Francisco where they would go on a boat and party the night away as they went around the bay. The idea behind it is that unless the kids bring them in, there is no access to alcohol or drugs.

How did this change my night? Well, I had people here for the first hour or so, which was a nice change. This also included the local PD. Second is that I had cars to keep my eye on besides the stage. Speaking of the stage it grew again. Now there are roughly 250 chairs and multiple pavilions pointed towards the stage.

The night was clear and cold. But I got to see the stars and the moon which I hadn’t before because of all the fog. It seemed to have made all of the nocturnal animals more active. Lots of happy crickets and frogs.

I spent my night listening to In The Clearing, the last book in a trilogy. If you are into crime stories its a good series. All three of the books are free to read on Kindle Unlimited. The first two also come with the free audio book. But by downloading the third book I got the audio for $1.99. I’m willing to spend that much for a good story which also helped my night go by faster.

I either had the stomach flu or food poisoning in the past 24 hours. I’ll spare you the details, but needless to say I was unable to keep anything down. And when I do eat its been Ritz crackers or Saltines with some sprite. Not a lot, just a few crackers at a time and a couple of sips.

I called my parents after I had slept for a few hours after being up sick all night, just to check on Gucci. My dad said that Gucci was acting funny, he hadn’t eaten his breakfast and was just standing in his stall in one spot. I was worried so I got dressed and headed over. I got the thermometer and took his temperature (98.8, normal). He had tummy noises and no other signs of being ill. My dad offered to walk him around which was when I saw that he had thrown a shoe.

Gucci is very sensitive when it comes to his feet, and throwing a shoe can change his whole attitude. So I wrapped his foot in vet wrap, threw an easy boot on him and then covered it in duct tape. Guess who started to feel better and acting like a goof? Yup, Gucci. He rolled and then jumped up with a squeal, and took off at a canter. He ran into his stall, through his paddock into his turn out pen where he spun around and struck out with his front feet. Poppa said that he was happy he ‘no longer had a flat tire.’

So while Gucci was being himself, my dad and I searched for the long lost shoe. After an hour of searching we turned up empty handed.  We went through every inch of his stall and everywhere he had been in the field. Which really sucks. His shoes are really expensive and instead of paying the reset rate now I have to pay full price. Which sucks.

Day 19, 20, and 21:

So for day 19: What do I collect. I like collecting Breyer Horses. Some I pull out of the box, others I don’t. I used to collect them to play with them, now I get them if they strike my fancy. Ones that don’t come out of the box are the Christmas horses. I’ve been growing my collection since 1998, and I have most of them. I also collect the Halloween Breyers. I’m looking forward to this years one. I just pre-ordered the guy.

Day 20: A difficult time in my life. Well, moving halfway across the world was very difficult for me. Even though we had come to California on holidays, moving here was really hard. I was reluctant to leave behind everything I knew to come to a strange, new place. Understandably, I was a bit of a brat. But I was being taken from everything I knew, all of my friends and the family that I had over there. I still think of my original home as home, I just currently live in California. I would really love to move back there one day. Whether or not that is possible is a totally different story.

Day 21: My 10 favorite foods. Well, this should be fairly easy.

  1. Pizza
  2. Garlic Burgers
  3. Yogurt
  4. Wantons
  5. Milk Shakes
  6. Chicken
  7. Steak, especially tri-tip.
  8. Pasta. Mostly any kind of Pasta.
  9. Tacos
  10. Chicken apple or garlic and cheese sausages.

Back to everyday life…

I ended up coming home at 3am last night after throwing up 4 times in 30 minutes. I felt like shit. Thankfully my supervisor let me go. I’m not sure what would have happened if I stayed. I felt good enough to crawl back into bed around 4, where I slept until our neighbors started having a yelling match at 10.

I’ve been taking it easy most of the day. I moved to the sofa and fell asleep, and I’m not eating a lot again today. Just more saltines and sprite. I worked on stuff for my boyfriends party on Sunday. Like I bought our tickets to the park and I made dinner reservations. I’ve spent most of the day either coloring or sleeping. Last night I worked on 2 pictures, and today I’ve worked on one with the Prismacolor Pens that I got the other day.

I didn’t really do much else today. I didn’t leave the apartment. I felt too ill and was anxious about getting sick while driving. Sometimes you just need a day at home to rest and recover, especially with what I have going on. But its better. I haven’t been ill since I woke up today, just nauseated and hot. I played on the computer for a little while.  Just taking it easy and finishing off my audio book.

Just keep swimming
